Saludos queridos lectores, les traigo este libro que me ha dado unas tardes malvadamente entretenidas: si, les hablo de Malus Darkblade de Dan Abnett y Mike Lee. Especificamente el primer libro: la maldición del demonio.
Se nos introdice a nuestro protagonista como un druchii, un elfo oscuro proveniente de la fria tierra de Naggaroth; la tierra de los elfos oscuros. Hago un parentesis para explicar que los drushii son criaturas malvadas, saguinarias y destructivas, con una economía basada en la trata de esclavos junto con una cultura que celebra el sadismo, las conspiraciones y puñaladas por la espalda.
Malus es hijo de un alto y poderoso señor el elfico, pero por desgracia es el menor, por ende el menos poderoso y el que tiene la mayor necesidad de provar su valía. Curiosamente tambien tiene la peor suerte para provar esto.
En uno de estos intentos es informado por su hermana (que convenientemente es una hechicera) de un artefacto antiguo que lo guiará hacia una fuente de poder inimaginable. Lo que lleva a nuestro protagonista al robo del objeto y el posterior viaje hacia el prometido poder que este que este liberará.
La historia transcurre con una trama y desarrollo tipicos de novela de espada y brujeria, pero lo que vende de este libro no es la trama, sino, su protagonista y el mundo en el que desarrolla. No te cuentan; "los elfos oscuros son malos" y se quedan ahi; te muestran toda una sociedad que orbita alerededor de la cruedad, luchas por el poder y el beneficio propio. Con un protagonista quien al haber crecido en este ambiente tiene estos principios bien fundados en su conducta.
Hago una aclaración aquí: MALUS DARKBLADE NO ES UN ANTIHEROE, ES UN VILLANO. Busca poder solo para si mismo, traicionará a cualquiera contar de conseguir su cometido sin importar lo cercanos que sean del y se regocijará en el sufriciento ajeno. Con una mente maquinadora, brillante e inventiva que siempre encontrará las maneras más alucinantes para salirse con la suya en cualquier situación.
Aunque he disfrutado este libro debo decir que hay ciertos fallos, la narrativa es una montaña rusa ¿a qué me refiero? me refiero a que los momentos en los que la trama está al tope y al acción está en su cenit (las escenas de pelea son intensas, cargadas de adrenalina): son cortadas de repente para volver a una narración lenta, ciertas veces pesadas.
Si puedes con este detalle este libro posiblemente la saga es para ti, Un libro que los fans de los elfos oscuros o cualquiera aburrido de los heroes buenos que luchan por el bien y la justicia disfrutará.

Greetings my dear readers, I bring you a book which has given me some evil ans entretaining afternoos: Yes, I'm talking to you about Dan Abnett's and Mike Lee's Malus Darkblade. More specificly the first book: A daemon's curse.
Our protagonist is introduced as a druchii, a dark elf from the cold land of Naggaroth; the land of the dark elves. I make a parenthesis to explain that de druchii are creatures of evil, bloodshed y destruction, with an economy based on salve trade together and a culture that celebrates sadism, conspirations and betrayal.
Malus is the son of a powerful high elven lord, the minor by disgrace, thus the least powerful and the one with the bigger need to prove its worth. Also the one with the worse luck doing so.
In one of this attems he is informed by his sister (who conveniently is a soreceress) of an antique artifact that will guide him to unspeakable power. Which drives the rotagonist to steal the object and the posterior power that it is promised to unravel,
The story flows with tipical plot and development always seen in sword and sorcery storires, but the fact that sells about this book aint the plot, but, it's protagnist and the world it presents. Y you aint told "the dark elves are evil"; they show you a society that orbits around cruelty, fights for power and personal benefit. Whit a protagonist who's been raised in thar ambient carry those same values.
Let make this clear: MALUS DARKBLADE IS NOT AN ANTIHEORE, HE IS A VILLAIN. He looks for power for himself only, he'll betray anyone to get what he wants regardless how cole thay are to him and will rejoice in onthers pain. with an evil, brilliant and inventive mind that will always come one with the most amaizing ways to get away of any situation.
Even that I have enjoyed this book there are some failures, the narrative is a roller coaster, what do I refer to? I mean that the moments when the plot and action are at its higher points: are stopped suddenly to come back to a slow and sometime heavy narrative.
If you can live with that detail maybe this saga is for you, A book that dark elves fans or anyone bored with the goody two shoes heroes who fight for good and justice will enjoy.
